Who owns the smart meter?

We do. We own all the smart meters we're asked to install and charge either the Retailer or its appointed Metering Data Agent a monthly charge for accessing the data and utilising the other remote controlled features the smart meter has.

This way, no-one has to pay a large up-front cost to have a smart meter − except us of course!
